Megamix is a mobile DJ and events company and I was asked to produce their logo and website. Megamix provide a varied DJ service playing music from the 80's through to the latest. The client was very specific about the colour scheme and insisted on pink and black. The client also wanted an 80's feel to the logo. I used a curved triple lined font that

screamed 'Disco.' I used graduated tones of pink for glamour and a vinyl record icon for the dot in the 'i' to give that 80's feel. I also used a digital styled font and graphic equalizer to contrast the retro look and to install a feeling of modernity. The screenshot below plays on both the old and new styles as well as the events side of things. The navigation

'streamers' that culminate in the navigation buttons are like banners unfurling as if to announce an event. I used subtle circular rings in the background and gave the background a grainy look to give a visual feeling of vinyl and it's imperfections that create crackles. I also used the digital font and digital elements to create clean sharp

edges for modernity in contrast to the retro elements. Unfortunately the client's business went through a management change and the redesign of the website and the design below was shelved. I decided to include this screenshot as I think it could have been a very good project to see through to completion as their current site is still in need of an

overhaul. You can view it here: http://www.megamixevents.co.uk/. As you can see it contains little structure, too many colours, too much movement in the form of unneccesary animations, inconsistent text styles and formatting, too many off the shelf images and videos. My aim would have been to make everything bespoke. From the

page graphics, photography right through to promotional videos so everything had a consistent and professional look and feel. I feel that this approach would have enhanced their perception with potential customers and left them with a feeling of professionalism and trust due to the quality of their web presence.
